Statement from the Arrington Campaign
We are saddened by the incident, and our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families as they navigate this horrific and unimaginable trauma.
We want to fiercely commend the Bloomington Police Department, the Indiana University Police Department, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, and the Indiana State Police. These brave first responders placed their own lives in harm’s way, running toward danger to reach the victims, secure the area, and begin the urgent work of apprehending the suspect.
What happened last night is a devastating tragedy that absolutely no community deserves to endure. As the situation develops, investigators must be allowed to do their job thoroughly, and once the suspect(s) and facts are known, the prosecutor must seek justice to the fullest extent of the law. Those responsible must be held accountable.
